Seagate Wireless Plus 2TB External Hard Drive

Recently I have purchased the Seagate Wireless Plus 2TB external hard disk online and today I got this through courier. From this article, you can find how to connect to Seagate Wireless Plus 2TB hard drive and also. I got this hard disk with the box as shown below; it comes with two years’ warranty.

                                     

Seagate Wireless Plus hard drive available in different capacities starts from 500 MB. This drive looks solid; it contains Seagate logo on the front brush-metallic plastic, it contains four rubber feet with two LED indicators (power and Wi-Fi). One of the two LED indicators is the power button, and another one is for Wifi. It also has USB connector. The actual hard drive looks as shown below.

We can connect to Seagate Wireless hard drive from any Wifi enabled Mobile, Tab, Laptop…etc. Let’s see how Seagate Wireless 2TB hard drive works. First, charge the hard disk fully by using a power cable. Switch on the hard disk through power button and after blinks the Power and Wifi LED’s displays in blue as shown below.

                                                                                                                                                    

Now from your laptop or mobile, search for available wifi networks. Seagate wireless hard drive displays as shown below.

Enable Seagate wireless network and disable all other networks. After enabling Seagate wireless plus hard drive, open http://172.25.0.1/ from your browser for Seagate web page. The Seagate webpage displays as shown below. It asks for “Turn on Password” for the wireless hard drive, we are not interested in that now. We discuss how to activate and change the password for Seagate Wireless Plus hard drive later in this article, so click on “Remind me later” button.

Change Name for Seagate Wireless Plus 2 TB Hard Drive: By default, the name of the Seagate Wireless Plus hard drive name is like “Seagate Wireless J8Z 2 2”. If you want, we can change the name for our wireless hard drive. To modify the name, go to Settings on the Seagate default web page http://172.25.0.1/ as shown below.

Select General => click on “Change Seagate Wireless Plus Name” and enter name whatever you want. Here I have entered as “techinfocorner” as shown below and click “Done” button.

Switch OFF and switch ON your Seagate Wireless Plus hard drive. Now you can see your given name (for me TehCognition) in the available wireless networks list as shown below.

Change Password for Seagate Wireless Plus 2 TB: To turn on password, go to Settings => select Network as shown below.

It displays the different options as shown below.

Click on “Turn on password”, it displays screen to enter a password. Enter the valid password and select “Done”. Switch OFF and switch ON your wireless hard drive and try to connect again. It asks the password to connect to Seagate Wireless Plus hard drive as shown below.

Enter password and connect to it. You can change the password by selecting Settings => Network => Change Password.

Connect to the Internet while connected to the Seagate Wireless Device: You can log into the web while connecting to Seagate Wireless hard drive. To connect to the internet, select wireless symbol as shown below.

It displays available other wireless networks. From the list, select your internet connection. Enter password for your internet connection if it has. Now you can browse the internet even though you connected to Seagate Wireless Plus Hard Drive.
